Awesome Camping Stoves

Camping is one of mankind's favorite hobbies, especially during the fast approaching summer months. Campers vary in experience and preference, but the idea of a camping trip is to get outside and away from our busy lives to enjoy nature and live a simple life for a few days. One thing that campers everywhere must do to have a successful trip is to pack carefully. Experienced campers know what it is you don't leave home without. These essentials like food, water, and shelter are very important things to remember. Equally important, however, are those other commonly overlooked items that, while not absolutely necessary to survival, make a camping trip pleasurable and relaxing. Here are some examples of items that can really add to the camping experience.

1. Camping stove.

Unless you like to eat all your food cold and straight from a can, a camping stove is an item that can improve your trip by keeping your belly full of your favorite tasty meals. Just because you're camping doesn't mean you have to eat tasteless, bland, boring food. Camping stoves come in all different varieties such as Dutch ovens, gas stoves, etc, and there are some high quality products available for reasonable prices. Planning a menu for your camping trip can be so much easier with a camping stove because you'll be able to cook things that you normally eat at home. Most importantly, a camping stove can produce some delicious desserts and midnight treats, things like hot chocolate, brownies, and cobbler. Hmm-hmm.

2. Sun protective gear.

If you don't know already, sunburns really hurt. You can't be too careful when preventing skin cancer and serious sun burn. Keeping your head in the shade can help prevent overheating, which is important during the summer when you want to be out hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Overheating can result in extreme sickness and even death, so make sure you keep yourself covered and hydrated. Sunglasses are important to protect your eyes, and sunscreen is a must to prevent sunburn. Use a minimum of SPF 15, but SPF 30 or 45 is better. Be sure to apply sunscreen any place on your body that isn't covered with clothing. Don't forget those little patches around your ears, neck, hands, and feet. Also, the sun is the strongest during the late morning, early afternoon, so plan outdoor activities for the early morning or late afternoon/evening.

3. A hammock.

During those midday hours when the sun is at its best, set up a hammock and take a nap, read a book, or just meditate and stay out of the sun. Camping can be very restorative and renewing if you take time to just be quiet and still and enjoy the outdoors.

4. A camera.

You don't want to forget all the fun you had on your camping trip, so be sure to bring a camera or camcorder to capture your experience. Be sure to bring extra batteries and/or film!

5. Yard games.

When you're at your campsite and not off hiking or swimming, set up some yard games and play together with your group. My favorite yard games are crochet, bocce, and frisbee. Packing these games can provide hours of entertainment and competition that will make your camping trip satisfactory.

So when you're putting together your list of things to bring on your camping trip this summer, keep these suggestions in mind. Don't forget a camp stove, sun protective gear, a hammock, a camera, and yard games. Your camp-mates will thank you!
